BORIS Theses and Dissertations

All dissertations submitted at the University of Bern are included in the library catalog. Additionally, we will make the full text of your dissertation available in Open Access via Swisscovery and BORIS Theses if this is legally possible.

Send us an e-mail if you have any questions.

Publication

The collection "Theses" on BORIS Portal offers the university's PhD candidates an option to publish and archive their dissertations in open access. PhDs can publish their theses fast and free of charge while at the same time fulfilling their obligation to publish and deliver statutory copies to their deaneries. A prerequisite is, of course, that this option is allowed by the PhD regulation of the relevant deanery/faculty and all conditions of the regulations and the deaneries are fulfilled.

Contact

If you have questions or would like to upload a dissertation, make sure to contact our team. You can reach us at boristheses@unibe.ch

  • Your dissertation will be able to be seen in full free of charge all over the world.
  • Your dissertation can be found via international library catalogs.
  • Long-term archiving is guaranteed due to the collaboration with the Swiss National Library

Make sure to check with your advisor(s) and your deanery, whether a publication on BORIS Portal is considered to be an additional form of publication or if it replaces the requirement to submit statutory copies or the publication with a publishing house. The individual faculties deal with this in different ways. You will find details in the relevant PhD regulations.
