Digital Collections Bern

With the Digital Collections Bern project, the University Library is creating a central solution for the collection, processing and presentation of digitized material from the University Library and the University of Bern. An infrastructure is currently lacking for various digitization projects to make the digitized material available online. Of particular interest here are functions for the flexible further processing of digitized material, e.g. as image formats suitable for research, as texts through text recognition and as data sets through data extraction and data enrichment. These represent central foundations for data-driven research.

The project is currently in the initialization phase. The central aim is to gather as many potential use cases as possible from university institutes and other units and to record their specific requirements.

Based on the consolidated requirements, a procurement analysis will be carried out and a recommendation for the further procedure for the procurement and design of a central solution for digital files will be developed.
