Throughout modern Polish history students have been on the forefront of political, social and cultural change. Various generations of student activists not only left lasting imprints on the perception of a national consciousness, but their members often went on to influence the country’s trajectory as part of its elites. This lecture will present a historical overview of student activism from the end of the Second World War till the present and discuss how the phenomenon helped shape Poland as we know it today.
